Title of the talk:

Physics Pedagogy Beyond the Textbook -- Inspirations from Academic Research

Abstract of the talk:

In this talk, I describe my journey of exploring physics beyond traditional textbooks to gain greater insight. It is well-known that intuition and heuristics are very powerful methods for learning Physics. A difficult topic often appears simpler when we see it in the light of something we know. This has been my technique, earlier as a student and now as a teacher. The common undergraduate-level Physics syllabus is a relatively unexplored domain where such methods can be very useful in the teaching-learning process. Such perspectives can sometimes also lead to research explorations, which should be one of the aims of education in general. In this talk, I will describe my experience in this journey, which I have often shared with undergraduate students whom I have mentored.
