Candidate Name:

Mr. Saurav Shome

Ph.D. Thesis Title:

Designing and implementing a collaborative teacher professional development model for planning project-based learning in Indian schools

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on designing and implementing a Project Based Learning (PBL) model for teacher professional development in Indian schools. It involves exploring teachers' views on projects and practices, conducting workshops, and visiting thirteen schools. One PBL unit was developed and implemented, ensuring disciplinary engagement and critical self-assessment. The findings from the teachers' interviews indicated that there is an increased burden and confusion regarding policy suggestions. It was also found that translating the learning of the teachers from the workshop to actual school and classroom settings are not straightforward. The study confirms the plausibility of PBL implementation with adequate teacher support and systemic changes in school operations. Teachers' teaching plans evolve in terms of subject integration, assessment, group work, and classroom management.

Note: This seminar will be conducted exclusively in offline mode.
