It is well known what happened when Bose sent a paper to Einstein in June 1924. The role of Einstein in dealing with this paper is also well recorded. But the reasons behind paying so much attention by Einstein to a paper from India and the scientific scenario at Europe at that time demands a critical look. How the things got connected on one hand and Bose remained 'academically unproductive' on the other hand for quite some time after 1924 has been analyzed in the talk. The stress is more on history and less in physics and the talk is devoid of any mathematical equation.
