Speaker: Abhijit Bezbaruah, (NEDFi) has associated with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati to carry out the above mentioned study. We will speak on how the study seeks to understand the present position of science and maths education in the Lower Primary and High School stages. We are going to develop a Regional Plan to improve the status of the teaching learning of the above subjects in North East India. Similar action plans (State Sub- Plan) will also be submitted to the Education Department of the 8 states of North East as the state wise position differs widely, and the underlying factors are found to be varying from state to state as per data analysis. NEDFi has now undertaken a study covering 10 schools in Maharashtra to understand the status of science and mathematics education in this state. This can serve as a benchmark to assess the current status of similar education in NE India , in order to make a robust action plan for its improvement.
